We are looking for an experienced Chef to work within a traditional country style pub in Southend. Salary to suit experience...ranging from £19k to £22k + 28 days holiday pay.

Your role as Sous Chef is to enhance the growth of the business with new ideas and practices and with the desire to continue to improve the quality of the dining experience and ensure customer satisfaction.

The candidate:

  • Experience at a Commis chef or Chef de partie level.
  • Experience in a fast paced environment.
  • The desire to be part of a dynamic kitchen team and to learn new culinary skills.
  • The ability to practice and adhere to strict food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
  • The ability to maintain accurate kitchen logs and records.
  • An individual who can remain calm whilst under pressure.
  • A great team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A real passion for food & seasonal produce
  • An ability to train & develop our junior chefs & kitchen porters

Duties will include:

  • To manage the kitchen staff and ensure agreed standards are achieved
  • To develop menus and dishes to suit the restaurants activities and maximise both quality and profitability
  • To assist in achievement of agreed turnover and margin targets
  • To ensure compliance with all legislation regarding Food Safety Management Systems as required by the Environmental Health Office (EHO).

**Reliability is key as is a good sickness record. This role is a vital part of the business and you will work together with the Head Chef & Business Manager, with some flexibility to develop your own menus and style of food**
