Job Summary: To provide leadership and take responsibility for the management and administration of the Company within the frameworks established by the Board of Directors. Company Director on BOD. Committed to serving our local community as a Community Interest Company.

Key responsibilities

  • Registered Manager for both locations
  • Maintain close working relationships with a local Hospice Community Services team. In conjunction with the Community Services Manager be responsible for the service level agreement, attending regular meetings with Joint Directors
  • Responsible for ensuring that the care services delivered by the Company meet the Care Quality Commission requirements
  • Maintain CQC rating at GOOD as a minimum
  • Submit CQC Annual Provider Information Return and CQC notifications as required
  • Ensure compliance with Companies House requirements - prepare annual CIC statement to accompany audited accounts
  • Ensure that the Company meets all legal and statutory obligations
  • Support the Quality Management Systems embedded in the Company and ensure that key performance and quality indicators are monitored and achieved
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all partners and stakeholders and establish new relationships to support the Company
  • Maintain focus on marketing and developing the business

Working with the Board of Directors

  • Ensure that the Board of Directors formulates and reviews the Company vision, mission and values
  • In conjunction with the Board, develop a long-term strategy for XYZ with an annual review.
  • Ensure that the Board can review progress made with the annual Business Plan, and Key Performance/Quality Objectives
  • Report to the Board on all corporate and clinical governance processes, providing relevant information and answering for the performance of the Company.

Leading and managing the Company

  • Responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall financial health of the Company
  • Ensure that XYZ has the human, material and financial resources required to operate effectively
  • Take appropriate steps to protect the Company from risk
  • Ensure that the Company fulfils its constitutional, regulatory and legal obligations as a third sector social enterprise
  • Ensure that the Company has the right management systems and structures in place to carry out its various functions effectively, accountably and safely
  • Provide leadership and support to the Senior Management Team in their roles
  • Ensure that everyone is focussed on achieving the XYZ aims and strategic objectives 
    Protect and enhance the reputation of XYZ and promote our services
  • Liaise with the media to raise the Company profile, act as spokesperson
  • Lead on marketing strategies, tendering/procurement processes, grant applications
  • Ensure that marketing materials and all communication promote the vision, mission and values of XYZ
  • Work with commissioners in the Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Third Sector to support service developments
  • Maintain an effective and up to date website and marketing materials

Educational / qualifications

A professional qualification

Registered Nurse/Social Worker


Management Qualification Level 4/5 related to social care

Abilities and Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience at a senior level in health or social care

Awareness of registration, legal and statutory requirements that apply to the Company

Knowledge and understanding of health and social care commissioning

Strong leadership, communication, motivational skills

Ability to build networks with stakeholders to develop the business

Experience of managing community care services to include community palliative care services

Personal Characteristics and Qualities

Methodical and organised able to prioritise and multi task

Polite, non-judgemental, approachable, with a high level of personal integrity

Motivated, committed and able to motivate others
